Gum disease treatment in DLF Phase 2, Gurgaon
Gum disease is the most common reason adults lose teeth, and it is usually painless until it is advanced. Bleeding when you brush is the earliest signal, and the one most often ignored.
Signs worth acting on
Book an examination if you notice any of these:
- Gums that bleed when you brush or floss
- Gums that look red or puffy rather than firm and pink
- Persistent bad breath or a bad taste
- Gums receding, or teeth looking longer than they used to
- Teeth that feel slightly loose, or have started to drift
- Food packing into spaces that did not used to be there
Gingivitis and periodontitis are not the same thing
Gingivitis is inflammation of the gum only. It is common, it is reversible, and a professional clean plus better daily cleaning usually resolves it completely.
Periodontitis is what gingivitis becomes if it is left. The inflammation reaches the bone supporting the tooth, and that bone does not grow back. Treatment can stop it progressing and keep the teeth stable for decades, but it cannot rebuild what has already gone. This is why the bleeding stage matters so much.
How it is treated
We start by measuring the depth of the pockets around each tooth and taking X-rays to see the bone level. That tells us whether this is gingivitis or something further along, and how far.
Treatment is usually deep cleaning — scaling and root planing — which removes deposits from the root surfaces below the gum line, often done a quadrant at a time under local anaesthetic. Advanced cases may need surgical treatment or referral.
The part that decides the outcome, though, is what happens between appointments. Gum disease is managed, not cured, and daily cleaning is most of the work.
Keeping it stable
After treatment you will be seen more often than a standard six-month recall, usually every three to four months, so any recurrence is caught while it is still small.
Smoking makes gum disease significantly worse and masks the bleeding that would otherwise warn you. Poorly controlled diabetes has a two-way relationship with gum disease — each makes the other harder to manage. We will raise both if they apply to you.
What it costs
| Treatment | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Laser gum therapy, per quadrant | ₹10,000 – ₹15,000 |
Cost depends on how many quadrants need treating and how deep the pockets are. The assessment tells us that before anything is booked. These are indicative ranges, not a quotation — your exact cost is confirmed after an examination, before anything begins.
Common questions
Is it normal for gums to bleed when brushing?
No. Healthy gums do not bleed. Bleeding means inflammation, and it is the earliest and most treatable stage of gum disease. It is worth an examination rather than a change of toothpaste.
Can gum disease be cured?
Gingivitis, yes — it resolves completely with cleaning and good daily habits. Periodontitis can be stopped and kept stable, but bone already lost does not come back. Early treatment is what protects the teeth.
Will I lose my teeth?
Not necessarily. Many people with treated gum disease keep their teeth for life. The outcome depends on how advanced it is when treatment starts and how well it is maintained afterwards.
Is gum disease linked to other health conditions?
There are well-established associations with diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and the relationship with diabetes runs in both directions. We will ask about your general health for that reason.
