The decay in the tooth can penetrate through the enamel and dentin till the pulp where all the nerves of the tooth reside and cause sensitivity and pain. Tooth decay contains numerous tiny microscopic bacteria which penetrate through your tooth (the enamel) causing it to cavitate. As the bacteria eat away your tooth, the cavity becomes deep and involves the nerves of the tooth, and that’s when the condition becomes painful and root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment is necessary.
The dental surgeon would remove the tooth caries ,by drilling into the tooth structure and entering the root of the tooth, removing the infected pulp, cleaning the root canal, with specialised instruments(rotary files), irrigating and disinfecting, followed by filling or obturation of the root canals with biocompatible materials(guttapercha) , thus sealing the tooth. This is followed by build up of lost tooth structure with tooth colored material to restore the anatomy and then finally restored with crown, thus giving you a strong functional tooth.
Dental caries are the most common complaints of patients. Our treatment is primarily aimed at removing all the decay and caries leaving behind healthy tooth structure which can then be restored to its normal function and anatomy, using various restorative materials. With the demand for esthetics increasing in recent times, and the advent in tooth colored fillings technology, life like teeth with brilliant luster can be sculpted in a single visit.
Dental implants are titanium screws which are anchored to the jawbone. This serves as the root of the new tooth. A crown which looks like the missing tooth is then fabricated which is placed on top of the implant. Dental implants are the mainstay of replacing missing teeth and offers advantages like:
- Unlike bridges, the nearby teeth need not be tampered with
- Dental implants are also routinely used in patient with loose dentures. The implants are placed in the upper and lower jaws and the dentures are fixed onto them provided better retention, stability, chewing efficiency and comfort.
- Bone loss is reduced
- Chewing efficiency is much better compared to fixed bridges and dentures
- Looks more natural and esthetic
- Lasts for many years if duly taken care of
Prevention is always better than cure and as a parent, we know you would rather prevent a dental problem for your children than treat one. We offer several types of treatment designed to keep your children’s teeth and gums healthy and disease-free. These include fluoride treatments, space maintainers, diet counseling, oral care counseling, pit and fissure sealants, dental cleanings, etc.
But despite taking good care, does your child still have that black brown spot on his/her teeth that? These black hideous ugly cavities can hamper with the normal healthy development of a child. Bacteria in the presence of sweetened food, create havoc by producing an acid which dissolves the tooth and causes tooth decay. Dental fillings, pulpectomy, crowns are done by a pediatric dental surgeon to treat the tooth decay. Whatever be the dental issue, our team would find you a solution!
Orthodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry that is concerned with diagnosing, treating and preventing malocclusions (bad bites) and other irregularities in the jaw region and face. Orthodontists are specially trained to correct these problems and to restore health, functionality and a beautiful aesthetic appearance to the smile. Though orthodontics was originally aimed at treating children and teenagers, almost one third of orthodontic patients are now adults. A person of any age can be successfully treated by an orthodontist. Orthodontics can help you have the healthy, straight, beautiful smile you’ve been waiting for!
What are the main types of orthodontic braces?
Metal and Ceramic braces –Traditional braces are generally metal but are also available in a clear synthetic material and “tooth colored” ceramic. The ceramic brackets are generally more comfortable than the metal alternative, but can become discolored by coffee, wine, smoking and certain foods.
Invisible Braces – Clear aligners are favored by many adults because they are both removable and invisible to onlookers. These are clear trays, and should be worn for the recommended amount of time each day for the quickest results. They are more comfortable and less obtrusive than traditional braces, but also tend to be more costly. However, not all patients are candidates for invisible braces.
Lingual braces – These appliances are usually metal and fixed on the tongue side of the teeth, therefore are not seen when a patient smiles. Lingual braces tend to be moderately expensive and in some cases, can interfere with normal speech.
Missing teeth can be replaced with a myriad of dental treatment options like
Removable partial denture
These as the name suggests are removable and need to be removed every night before going to bed. Teeth are attached to resin bases which can be fitted inside the mouth. Chewing efficacy with removable partial dentures are less compared to fixed treatment options.
Fixed partial denture
These are, what we refer to as crown and bridge. The adjacent teeth next to the missing teeth serve as the ‘pillars’ and are prepared to receive the ‘bridge’. Endodontic treatment of the adjacent healthy teeth might also be required many a times. These can be fabricated in porcelain fused to metal or zirconia crowns.
Implants can replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth or as implant supported dentures.
This is a treatment modality for replacement of all the missing teeth in patients with no teeth. Process of fabricating a denture usually involves 3-4 appointments where impressions are taken and accurate recordings made of the jaws. The complete denture bases are generally resins, which are colour matched with the soft tissues and teeth arranged in a manner comfortable for you to eat, smile and speak.
A good smile does wonders in raising your self-esteem and increasing your level of positive attitude. Smiles can be re invented by cosmetic dentistry procedures like teeth bleaching, dental veneers, composite restorations, crowns, etc. We take facial appearance, skin tone, hair color, teeth (color, width, length, shape and tooth display), gum tissue and lips into consideration to give you a healthy and beautiful smile.
Why Do Teeth Change Color With Increasing Age?
Food and Drink
Coffee, tea and red wine are to blame the most. They impart intense color pigments called chromogens that attach to the white, outer part of the tooth (enamel) and make them yellowish/brownish.
Tar and nicotine in tobacco make the tooth yellowish in color.
With time, the outer enamel layer gets thinner and more of the yellowish dentin shows through imparting a yellowish hue to the tooth.
Teeth whitening is a very popular esthetic dental procedure that removes the dark pigmentation from teeth and renders it whiter and many shades lighter than what it originally was. Teeth bleaching can whiten your teeth in a single office visit because the entire process of teeth whitening consumes hardly 45 minutes to one hour.
